Intelligent agents, and memetrackers

Having just posted the three Web 2.0 tools to watch for banks, thought it worthwhile to dig down on the one that's least obvious, memetracking.

Relevance to Bankwatch:
Many powerful tools are appearing, and they will change online banking. In particular, three tools to watch that smart Banks will lever are:

I recall back in the heady days of online banking beginning, and pre-dot com crash, one of the aspects we dreamt of was intelligent agents. Those would be technical tools, we thought of as bots, that would crawl the net seeking something of customer interest, eg the best mortgage, the best interest rate, the best terms, etc.

Well it strikes me that is precisely where memetrackers are going. Today I use those tools for tracking news, based on the preferences and other interests I have shown. Those tools follow RSS feeds and watch what I like, and try to accomplish alignment.

Its no stretch to consider that model for RSS feeds containing rates, mortgage terms, and overlay my preferences, my personal information, eg, mortgage coming due in 4 months, amount, terms desired, my income, credit history, and then to align my needs, pre-qualify me, and offer me the best of what is available.
