The US-wide survey of 1150 adults conducted by Pineda Consulting found that only 44% feel their information is safe when engaging in e-commerce and only a third (34%) feel that Internet banking is as safe as banking in the branch.

Surveys are often used as tools to promote a cause. In the case of online security, it is now bordering on fearmongering, and Banks need to ensure a balanced and educational view is provided to their customers, reflecting the significant security steps they have taken.
