Windows Live Writer for bloggers

Of interest to fellow bloggers:

I have been using this for a week now.  I am one of those guys who though Microsoft rocked in the 90’s and then lost it in the 2000’s, so I am not a Microsoft evangelist. 

I have to say this software is brilliant for blogging, for few key reasons:

  1. WYSIWYG is actually that.  I have been using Performancing but that software while convenient is not WYSIWYG
  2. Tied to 1.  It actually uses the CSS from your bog to lay out the interface as you type, so you feel you are typing in your blog – very cool
  3. picture and map insertion is outstanding.  Yeah they have to sort out the picture/ thumbnail part, but not bad for start
  4. there is no “close” function, so when you go to post #2, you end up with two windows.  Not the end of the world, but this is beta #1.
  5. plugins have started, and the Technorati tags plugin below arrived on day 2.  I expect lots of plugins for this one.
