This is a very cool Ajax application. Cool because of the way the desktop elements work together. We have seen a few Ajaxy things that are focussed on the technology, but this one actually provides some vision of how an Ajax desktop could work for a financial site. These guys are good.

When it opens, type in a stock symbol, try goog if you can’t think of one. I didn’t check but it probably needs to be American. The first thing that happens is the small tooltip thingy that tells the full stock name.
Then I selected another stock. I picked BA (Boeing).
One of the boxes is Ticker History. The stocks you selected are memorised, and as you cycle between them, the other boxes change to represent information on that stock.
All very clean, crisp, minimalist, and highly functional, yet retaining a very cool interface. I want to design an online banking interface that works this way. Think of the potential if instead of stocks being selected it were bills and this was the biller environment, with history, pay a bill, future dated bills … you get the idea.
The company is IdeAjax and from their about page, it seems they are just having fun, and promoting the concept. Their blog is here.
