Now that we sorted out who was first 🙂 with RSS autodiscover, it prompted me to take another look at the NSCU site.
This is a great site, no questions asked. Customers will love it, why?
- simple and clean lines – easy to find everything
- log-in on the home page – note the entire site is secure/https just as Wells Fargo do. No-one else has figured this out yet, but its the only way to generate an integrated site.
- RSS autodiscover on the home page 🙂 (although its not clear what it is subscribing to until you click it)
- Clear tabs, and restricted to five tabs
- Small file sizes (logo is 2K) mean very, very fast page load times
- A general them of learn/ apply throughout the site
- only thing I would hope to see is a demo of what the view for authenticated customers is – account information, bills etc.
All in all a nice job.

Thanks Colin. Appreciate the review of the site.
Coincidentally, the site ranked top across a number of categories and third in Canada overall by an independent research company (starts with ‘For”) in 2006. But, you wouldn’t know about that because we can’t publicize it.
We’re constantly evolving and spend a lot of time working with our ‘members’ to make the site easy to use.
The platform we are on is actually common to many Canadian Credit Unions — including Vancity, Coast Capital Savings, Citizens Bank of Canada and Canadian Tire Financial — and we helped develop the concept with Credit Union Central BC. You can learn more at http://www.memberdirect.ca
Thanks for that update Scott. I think the CU’s are doing a great job, and I’ll do more research on the platform.
