For those bloggers, or readers performing research this tool that I only came across today, is quite remarkable, and could have saved me time in past research.
Waybackmachine holds archived copies of web pages back to the 90’s. I was amazed (and embarrassed … at the quality) to find stuff I worked on from 96.
Its also useful to find earlier editions of pages that have been since edited.

I used the wayback machine for a presentation I did for two Canadian banks that had merged (I imagine you’ll be spending the rest of the day trying to figure out who it is).
They were embarking on a site redesign, and the new ecommerce group was comprised of individuals w/ histories that went back to both firms.
I used screen shots from the wayback site to show them how their site had evolved from the 2 original firms, and used it as a stepping off point to make recommendations going forward.
It’s a GREAT tool.
Holy crap! I can’t believe what mbanx was like way back when.
You are so young 🙂
I created my first web page in 1995. I think I used the [blink] tag and the little spinning “new” button. I may have even used the little digging man icon.
We all have our secret shame.
