I just wanted to note that comment spam has gone into over-drive in the last month, then increased from there in the last 2 or 3 days. In a normal day this blog gets 10 – 50, or 1,000 per month. But today there was 238 in one day. WordPress spam filters catch 99%, so I only mention in case I accidentally missed a legitimate comment caught in the spam filter. I try to check though the filtered spam, but a person can only take so much of the filth that’s in there, and I may miss something that’s legitimate. For example comments with embedded links are often caught in the spam filter.
If I did miss a comment, then I apologise, and please email me directly and we can try to recoup.

Yeah, no kidding. On Apr 21, I posted an entry about the spam “bell curve” — at that time, after 4 months of blogging, I had hit 1500 spam messages. About 2 months later that count hit 7878 this morning. It’s out of control.
I’m getting about 1100/day. Thank the maker for Akismet.
… if thats the case I am quite lucky at the relatively low levels I am seeing. Any yes, thank goodness for Akismet.
