“And now for some amazing insight!” | RBC p2p

I was intrigued enough by this email from RBC p2p the other day to click through and follow up on what RBC are up to. I pasted the whole email here for effect … its the antithesis of bankerspeak, with a colloquial approach, and dare I say a hint of fun.

And now for some amazing insight!

RBC p2ptm has launched, live with real students recounting their real experiences in real time!

For many months, you’ve been following along. We’ve made some seemingly outlandish claims about bringing you a blog for students, by students.

And now we’ve delivered. But don’t take our word for it!

Come find out what other students are saying about our topics and even comment for yourself!

Follow along as we explore the ins and outs of student financial challenges and successes, and see what kind of information we dole out!

We’ve made sure that the student bloggers contain no MSG, no CFCs, and no post-consumer recycled materials. 100% original. 100% real.

Hop on the blogwagon and come hang out with some pretty cool folks at rbcp2p.com

And while you’re at it, be sure to check out our new Facebook Fanpage, RBC Bankbooktm, where you can find out about all the latest happenings! Redesigned with more goodness than ever! Become a fan today and be sure not to miss a beat.

Seeing this again got me to thinking its time for another macro review of how far Banks have come (or not) in adopting the web lifestyle. This blog has been distracted by the sub prime stuff as well as other projects, so this is good timing to get the blog back to basics, with a Bank set of reviews of “who gets the web lifestyle”.

  1. First of all….I hope what they have trademarked is “RBC p2p” and not the term p2p.

Secondly, I assume these bloggers are being compensated byt RBC but didn’t see a disclaimer anywhere disclosing that.

I give RBC full credit for developing a site that doesn’t look like a corporate bank site and for sending out pretty witty email. I hope RBC keeps a hands-off approach and lets the bloggers and commentors communicate freely.

p.s. I hope they get more than 6 members for their facebook page unlike that other bank.

  2. Hey, I’m Kate, one of the RBC p2p bloggers.
Glad to see you’ve stumbled across the RBC p2p website, we all hope you like what you’re seeing! We’ve had a great response on the blog and our facebook group (RBC Bankbook) currently has over 2500 people! The blogging team has been working hard to get to the bottom of students’ financial woes, and we’re having a little fun along the way…
