Avi over at RBC Applied Innovation just sent me $1 through RBCMobex. I just registered, and 3 minutes later I am all set. The registration process is pretty slick, and once my account has been validated the money will be there.
The beauty of this system is that it can be used with any bank, and its simple to use. The problem with the banks Electronic Money Transfer system is that it is online banking only. RBC Mobex is mobile, and you can send to anyone at the moment you need to do it, rather than wait until you get back to your computer.
I have complained about Banks’ implementation of mobile before, but this one is a winner. This is the kind of thing that demonstrates what mobile implementations should be all about.
You have now successfully registered with RBC Mobex Mobile Payments.
To start using RBC Mobex Mobile Payments, you’ll need to add funds to your RBC Mobex account by linking your RBC Mobex account to your personal bank account or credit card.
Please add 66239 (MOBEX) to your list of contacts on your mobile phone and visit http://www.rbcmobex.com to log in and learn more about using your RBC Mobex account.

Is there something like this that’s a web-based solution and not just for mobile phones?
You have to have a bank account to use it Colin? What’s advantage over, say, PayPal?
