Social Media Conference – Toronto Dec 2/3, 2008

AM attending this conference, and participating in a panel tomorrow. We have the interesting topic of “New Strategies for Risk and Reputation Management in Social Media”.

Its an interesting topic, because as I listen to other attendees, their largest concerns are risk, and brand degradation. It is not just Banks that have that concern.

As i listen to the Molson team speaking now, i think they have it right – they are focussed on listening, “earning the right to be there”.

I would add that its important to not just listen, but to respond. The key is to understand and listen to the entire environment, and using all the tools avaialble to ensure that a complete picture is kept of the state of your brand and the state of your brands conversation.
