This week se have seen Nelson Piquet, an otherwise well respected F1 driver and winner of three world championships, make racist references about Lewis Hamilton. Lewis is a long time F1 champion and arguably one of the best ever with seven world championships.
The final race of 2021 saw some controversial activity when the race judges made calls that resulted in other divers winning the GP and the Championship, and Nelsons comments followed.
Nelsons daughter is dating the driver who won. I can only speculate what his motivation for the comments he made on Lewis but he is old enough (60) and experienced enough to know better.
Eccclestone comments followed
This was followed by Bernie Ecclestone ex F1 leader celebrating Vladimir Putin and suggesting the the war was Zelenskys fault.
Summary
I have followed F1 for over 40 years and I appreciate the purist driving and engineering progress as do millions of Brits. Lewis exemplifies that.
Bernie and Nelson, take your comments to Siberia and there is your platform.
