Canadian Management Centre’s Training Blog: Survey Finds Four Factors Key to Team Success

This useful post notes that less than half of projects are considered successful. Running a bank is all about projects, so these characteristics are worth remembering as we move ahead, and understanding which of these characteristics require improvement. Leadership The survey revealed that 70% of the respondents did not feel that their senior management team served as a positive role model very often. Also, when asked how effective team leaders were at helping meet team goals, 42.5% rated their team leaders a 3 or less on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being very effective and 1 being … Continue reading Canadian Management Centre’s Training Blog: Survey Finds Four Factors Key to Team Success

Cymfony’s Influence 2.0: ANA Masters of Marketing — The community of the Mini

Still a dearth of blogging from ANA.  This quote suggests the marketers at BMW Mini have the right idea. Jim McDowell on how Mini creates community among their owners: “We fuel it by not controlling it. Source: Cymfony’s Influence 2.0: ANA Masters of Marketing — Quotable Quotes, Part 2 But the most telling piece is here at AttentionMax where the P&G CMO no less speaks of “Let’s stop thinking about consumers and start thinking about people“.  As Max suggests it sounded like Stengel read Cluetrain the night before. Stengel should’ve concluded with a tactical, achievable mandate to the thousand or … Continue reading Cymfony’s Influence 2.0: ANA Masters of Marketing — The community of the Mini

Forrester’s Marketing Blog: Interactive Marketing Spending Maturing, But Not Slowing Down

Following an apparent delay in their results, conjecture about Yahoo advertising revenue appears here on the Forrester Marketing blog.  They consider whether interactive marketing is slowing or diversifying, and conclude the latter. *Marketers have a lot of interactive options to choose from. I think perhaps the biggest realization Yahoo! came to this year is that marketers have many, many alternative places to spend their interactive dollars instead of on banner ads on portal sites. For example, marketers today can build MySpace pages, buy product placements in video games, create RSS feeds, or buy mobile search ads, to drive desired behavior among … Continue reading Forrester’s Marketing Blog: Interactive Marketing Spending Maturing, But Not Slowing Down

TheStar.com – CIBC ATM’s back online, but lack central software management

What caught my attention here is that a few hundred machines were still down at this Bank following correction of the problem. CIBC officials say that most of the 1,200 cash machines knocked offline yesterday are working again. But a few hundred machines, mostly in eastern Ontario and located in convenience stores are still out of order. The outage occurred during a routine upgrade of a software program, bank spokesperson Rob McLeod said. Source: TheStar.com – CIBC ATM’s back online I understand from sources, that the few hundred still down have to be individually visited to have a software change made … Continue reading TheStar.com – CIBC ATM’s back online, but lack central software management

Web analytics is a new capability for bankers

Courtesy of Benry here is a fascinating site, which specialises in web analytics.  I just love it about Internet that you can always find someone who totally specialises in anything. The goal of the Trinity mindset is to power the generation of actionable insights. Its goal is not to do reporting. Its goal is not to figure out how to spam decision makers with data. Actionable Insights & Metrics are the uber-goal simply because they drive strategic differentiation and a sustainable competitive advantage. SIBOS – Sydney October 9th 2006

Was chatting to Neil from IBM tonight, while he is in Sydney for SIBOS, the annual SWIFT conference.  This thing is huge – 6,500 people last year in Sweden.  I learned tonight there are only 10 cities in the world that can handle the SIBOS conference.  The point is that payments are worldwide, and enormous!  Its a large audience focussed on one thing – international payments.   Technorati tags: SIBOS, payments Continue reading SIBOS – Sydney October 9th 2006

More than half of MySpace users are over 35 years old

Fascinating statistics from ComScore, that baffles the general assumption that social networks are for teenagers. Visitors to MySpace.com and Friendster.com generally skew older, with people age 25 and older comprising 68 and 71 percent of their user bases, respectively.  Meanwhile, Xanga.com has a younger user profile, with 20 percent of its users in the 12-17 age range, about twice as high as that age segment’s representation within the total Internet audience.  Not surprisingly, Facebook.com, which began as a social networking site for college students, also draws a younger audience.  More than one-third (34 percent) of visitors to Facebook.com are 18-24 … Continue reading More than half of MySpace users are over 35 years old

More Internet users visiting US newspaper websites: good news for online banking

This story is significant in that no-one/ industry is exempt from dramatic shifts in the Internet space.  A 31% shift is not a result of adoption increases. Newspaper websites averaged more than 55.5 million visitors a month in the first half of 2006, a 31 percent increase over the 42.4 million visitors over the same period a year ago, according to the Newspaper Association of America Source: More Internet users visiting US newspaper websites: survey – Yahoo! News I remain convinced that we will see a similar hockey stick effect in online banking one of these days.  In the case of … Continue reading More Internet users visiting US newspaper websites: good news for online banking
