It was October 2009 when I posted ‘who will be the last bank without an iphone app’.
For Canada I should have said who will be first, and its been a long time coming but it is CIBC. After an initial delay in December, it is released today. No bill payment yet, but it does have EMT (Canadian p2p payments between participating banks).
Kudos to CIBC.

thx – good news at last, their website says they do payments though, and i’ve confirmed it with my own account.
thx – but there was no delay in december.
thx … great news! shocking though that you know of a delay but not of the apps functionality.
Interesting. Anybody know whether this was developed in house or by a third party vendor?
I don’t know the answer but would guess knowing Canadian banks that it is build in house. Here is one link for an ex-CIBC developer with mention of iphone (at a later company).
It was not in-house but provided by Sybase.
My 1st impressions of the iPad are very positive. Apple has once again built a product that looks good and feels great in the hand, and the familiar user interface, borrowed from the iPhone and iPod touch, is perfectly suited to the bigger screen. The iPad whizzes along, opening applications, re-sizing web pages, and zooming in and out of maps almost instantaneously. Does someone know the release date? i love it and i want it…
The processor chip is branded as a little newer design amount but it and the GPU are likely the same speed since the 3GS. The old Contact with the same Processor and GPU as the 3G was faster. Apart from having the clock speed turned up greater the Touch has less software to run because it is not a phone. It ought to do more than any iPhone to this day in performance.
