Hit and run

This is totally off topic, but I read it here.  Nick happens to be the creator of Feeddemon one of the most popular RSS news readers, and one I have used extensively.  Its the story of him and his son being involved in a hit and run, and the subsequent minutes and hours.  Its quite gripping, and it happened yesterday. Thankfully both are ok.   Technorati tags: blogging Continue reading Hit and run

Politics and the … Continue reading Book review: "The Blog Ahead" by R. Scott Hall

final design changes

I am finally finished with design changes. This one is a modified version of a new WordPress theme, ‘cutline’. I feel its closer to the clear, easy to read, professional look that I was hoping for. I’ll let this run for a while, until I get the feeling that this is working for everyone. I liked that last one (silver is the new black), from a design perspective, but somehow the colours were not working for me. Continue reading final design changes

New design …. again

I have been less and less happy with the blog template, and particularly the formatting, paragraphing, and font.  So i am going to try this one, and I will try it for a bit longer this time.  The primary font is a bit smaller than I would prefer, but the overall formatting is very precise and I think more professional looking.  I am using the hosted service at WordPress, so I am limited to the templates they provide.  They are starting to introduce some CSS editing capability, which I might experiment with, but meantime, I will go with “Silver is … Continue reading New design …. again

Combo mag stripe and chip cards will fail

The UK experience is indicative of how criminals will remain one step ahead. Chip and pin helped cut card fraud by 13% to £439m last year from a 2004 high of £504m. Now, however, so-called ‘card not present’ fraud, which consists mainly of Internet scams, has risen 21% to £183m. Source: Online shoppers may get own card terminals to beat fraud – Sunday Times – Times Online Current implementations of chip won’t work as long as they combine mag strip and chip on the same card.  The current implementations are intended to deal with fraud, but designed to deal only … Continue reading Combo mag stripe and chip cards will fail
