For a mere $44 million, two years, and despite terrorist attacks, Bank of Ceylon has integrated 302 branches. The total cost, with hardware, software and implementation cost 1.5 to two billion rupees,” R B Ekanayake, IT Consultant BoC told LBO. “The (integrating) process started in September 2004 and we hope to connect all our branches by the end of this year. Corillian Launches TrueStamp Site Verification for Next Enhancement of Intelligent Authentication Technology

Corillian come up with a semi automated capability that verifies your online banking site to the user.  It is somewhat reminiscent of the Passmark/ RSA solution. TrueStamp images are created based on the configuration settings specified by the system administrator, and each user’s image is truly unique. To develop a TrueStamp, end users type a memorable phrase into a box and click a button. TrueStamp then immediately generates and displays a series of three images employing the phrase. The end user then selects one of the images, and the data to generate the image is stored in the user’s profile … Continue reading Corillian Launches TrueStamp Site Verification for Next Enhancement of Intelligent Authentication Technology

Customer Service as Marketing through Statistical Modeling

A rather theoretical piece from Carlos, but the concept makes sense, and this is how I would have expected CRM to evolve.  Customers will form their customer service opinion around the product or brand – not necessarily a specific dealership’s service department. This dynamic underscores the importance of maintaining good performance across all dealerships in the channel. Furthermore, the manufacturer must account for the entire customer service picture, which may extend beyond the service department to sales, financing and other departments. Internet advertising – gaps in the advertising model

There is much talk about the growth of internet advertising, and the industry changing model of advertising that will support all other business.  Even Schmidt from Google spoke of free cell phones supported by advertising the other day. So I thought I would dig deeper, and use the iab 2nd quarter report, that is validated by Price Waterhouse, so has validity. First the introduction paragraph will make Tara spit (if she wasn’t a lady).  “Interactive delivers an arsenal of options for advertisers no matter their marketing and business objectives. From search, broadband, lead  generation, behavioral targeting, consumer generated content and … Continue reading Internet advertising – gaps in the advertising model

Forrester | Profiling Social Network Users In Europe

Europe is a big user of Social Networks, albeit American ones. Social network sites are used by 17% of the European online population: In the UK, 34% of online consumers are members, making them Europe’s biggest users of social network sites. Users are young, Net-centric, and have bought into the social computing vision – they are heavy users of RSS, blogs, and podcasts in addition to being members of social networks. Across Europe, MSN’s social networks are faring well but, as the social network phenomenon spreads, they will face a strong challenge from MySpace. Forrester: Only four million bloggers in Europe (20%)

I was thinking about this point earlier so this post validated what I was starting to realise. There’s a lot of buzz around the blogging phenomenon but the numbers show that there are only four million active bloggers in Europe. However, European bloggers are very attractive to marketers as these consumers are young, early adopters of new technologies, and heavy Internet users. They also trust each other and are more open-minded than the average online consumer. Source: Forrester: Interactive Marketing All Forrester Research There are 56 million blogs in the world. Of those 26 million +/- are real, so Europe … Continue reading Forrester: Only four million bloggers in Europe (20%)

Dare to be different – Why banking innovation matters now – IBM Institute for Business Value

Another good piece from IBM.  The premise is that ” To distinguish themselves, banks must look beyond new product introduction and spread accountability for innovation throughout the organization.” Retail banks can’t assume that the growth and returns of the recent past will continue. Amid a throng of banking competitors – including new market entrants, forward-thinking incumbents and non-banks – banks need to differentiate themselves in ways that are not easily duplicated. To restore confidence and realize strong future returns, banks must set the stage now. It will require uncommon innovation to stand out from the crowd and adapt successfully to marketplace demands. … Continue reading Dare to be different – Why banking innovation matters now – IBM Institute for Business Value

You talkin’ to me … update

Charles comments on the “you talkin’ to me … “ post.  Its a great comment that zeroes right in on the issue at hand.  Is Marketing an extrapolation of what once worked or, is an entirely new model required. Its not an insignificant question.  The fact is that the newer things are the more they stay the same (or something like that).  So why might marketing be different. What’s interesting is this approach is a perversion of something that started out very right. That original idea was the notion of customer focus-the idea that every customer is unique, and that … Continue reading You talkin’ to me … update
